The Lake County Recorder’s
office, as a result of the successful completion and testing of our upgraded
software, is proud to announce that we now have the capability to e-mail images
of recorded documents so long as the record exists in a digital format. There is no charge for fulfilling this type
of public records request. Digital images of documents filed in this office date back to 1996.
Any public records request
for a document prior to 1996 will be provided in a hard copy format at the cost
of $2 per page as required by the Ohio Revised Code. Such funds must be paid in advance or at the
time service is rendered as required by the Ohio Revised Code.
Requests for documents to be
e-mailed to the public are to be treated as a public record request and will be
addressed in a reasonable amount of time as permitted by the Ohio Revised
Code. “Reasonable” should not be
misconstrued to mean “immediate”. A
public records request will be fulfilled when available staff time permits, but
certainly within a reasonable amount of time.
All public records requests will
be handled in the order that they are received. We have established a formal public records request process and the office
staff have been instructed on the proper office protocol to address such
requests.
